He began his acting career off-Broadway as Innocent Thoughts, Harmless Intentions (1980), Angels Fall (1982), Young Playwrights Festival (1983), and V & V Only (1988). After that, he worked on Broadway, including The Boys of Winter and Sacrilege. He debuted his film career in 1984 with The Cotton Club as Vince Hood.
