Brazilian MMA Fighter Evangelista Santos Fight With Michael Page Was A Sensational Match

In his career as a professional MMA fighter, Evangelista Santos, now retired, competed for organizations such as Strikeforce, Bellator MMA, the PRIDE Fighting Championships, Cage Rage, the International Vale Tudo Championships, Pancrase, Jungle Fight, Legacy FC, and World Victory Road between 1997 and 2016.

Known for his dynamic fighting style, 24 of his 39 fights were knockouts. He made his PRIDE FC debut in Japan, losing to keylock submission expert Kazuhiro Nakamura.

Additionally, on April 28, 2014, the 44-year-old faced Melvin Manhoef in a rematch from 2006. Santos, whom Manhoef eliminated in their previous encounter, was defeated by Manhoef once more in the opening round.

Where Is Evangelista Santos Now?

After his retirement, the MMA fighter worked as a coach in Curitiba, Brazil, for a year. In addition, he moved back to the United States in 2018 and now works as a coach in Texas at his gym.

He even stated explicitly that he had no intention of competing again. After his bout with Michael “Venom” Page, in which a flying knee fractured his skull, he decided to retire.

The brutal blow broke his skull, a terrible injury that needed surgery. Santos decided to put his gloves away even though he hadn’t had any severe effects from having surgery because he didn’t want to take the danger of getting harmed again.

Evangelista’s former wife, Cristiane Justino Venâncio, known professionally by her ring name Cris Cyborg, is also an MMA fighter. She has held the title of Bellator Women’s Featherweight Champion since the beginning of 2020.

In a similar vein, she has held the title of World Featherweight Champion in the UFC, Strikeforce, and Invicta FC.

Additionally, Cris holds world championships in four significant mixed martial arts promotions, making her the first MMA fighter in history in the male or female division to achieve the Grand Slam.

She is also regarded as one of the all-time best women in mixed martial arts.

On September 25, 2022, at the Fight Music Show, Cyborg will make her professional boxing debut against Simone Silva, a former Brazilian National Boxing Champion.

She collaborates with Justin Wren’s nonprofit, Fight For The Forgotten, which excavates wells for Ugandan Pygmies so they can have access to clean water. Additionally, she received her BJJ Belt from Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles after winning her first submission bout in a 26-fight MMA career.

Brazilian MMA Fighter’s Six Years Marriage To Cris Cyborg

Evangelista was married to his former wife, Cris Cyborg, in 2005, when they were at the ages of 28 and 20, respectively. The former couple essentially had years of age difference when they sealed their vows.

Cris took on his moniker “cyborg” when they were married. However, the couple decided to divorce in December 2011 after six years of marriage.

Even though Evangelista and Cris were no longer together, they still respected and cared for one another, as Cris previously sent a message on her Instagram page with a photo of her ex-husband and a scan of Santos’ fractured skull.

In addition, she revealed her engagement to Ray Elbe, her longtime partner, and a former MMA fighter, in 2017.

Years after the engagement, she adopted her teenage niece in a legal adoption, making her the first mother in UFC history to hold the championship belt.

Evangelista And Girlfriend Denise Rutkowski Disclosed Their Relationship Last Year

From his pictures on his Instagram page, Santos seems to have found love again. He is in a relationship with his girlfriend, Denise Rutkowski. In essence, their romance made its Instagram debut last year.

Moreover, according to her Instagram bio, his current partner is a fashion designer. It also appears that she is a Brazilian advocate utterly enamored with life.

Her Instagram, which contains more than 200 posts, is in private mode. The MMA fighter, in contrast, has only shared two photo collages of the couple, in which they are also seen embracing a fiery kiss.

The pictures were only posted in August and September of 2021. Denise and Evangelista appear to be quite a few years apart in age from the photo. In fact, Denise seems to be in her 30s, although the combatant is currently 44 years old.
