According to his family members, Rauf suffered cardiac arrest and was rushed to the hospital but couldn’t survive.
“He had not been feeling well for the last couple of days while running his business and came home early. Doctors say he had a cardiac arrest,” his brother told the Times of India.
Paying tribute to Asad Ruaf following his death, Pakistan Cricket Board chief Ramiz Raja tweeted; “Saddened to hear about passing of Asad Rauf. Not only was he a good umpire but also had a wicked sense of humour. He always put a smile on my face and will continue to do so whenever I think about him. Many sympathies with his family for their loss,”.
Asad Rauf was a Pakistani cricket umpire and cricketer.
Rauf, who had played 71 first-class matches for National Bank and Railways before taking up umpiring, was appointed to the ICC elite panel in April 2006.
He was a member of the ICC Elite Umpire Panel from 2006 to 2013 and is alleged to have been involved in match-fixing and spot-fixing of cricket matches.

He also officiated in 40 First Class matches, 26 List A matches and 89 T20s overall, including IPL matches.
In February 2016, Rauf was found guilty of corruption by the BCCI and banned for five years.
