Basic Travel Requirements for Mauritians visiting
Afghanistan
Travelers are required to fulfill the following requirements in order to
apply for a Afghan Visa.
- An original Mauritius passport valid for 6 months from the date of arrival and must have at least 2 blank pages.
- Duly filled and signed application form.
- Passport-sized photograph (35x45 mm) with a white background taken within the last six months. Must contain face, neck and shoulders of the applicant.
- Copy of the passport data page.
- Applicant under sixteen(16) years of age who is travelling without his/her parents must have a consent letter from the parent stating that the child can travel with whoever he/she is travelling with.
- Visitors, on arrival are expected to register for a foreigner registration card which must be held at all times. A foreigner found in Afghanistan without this can get hassled by the police.
NOTE: Foreigners arriving without a valid visa are subjected to deportation, confiscation of their passports or heavy fines.

Travel to Kabul is strongly advised against due to it being a lethal war zone. Despite the turmoil in Afghanistan, the country manages to pull in a reasonable number of tourists annually. On average, about 20,000 tourists visit the country.
Tourists should avoid trying to preach to or convert Muslims to other faiths, it is highly forbidden and regarded as a crime. Use and possession of narcotics, alcohol and pork products is a violation of the Afghan laws and orders. Homosexuality is also illegal in the country.

- The Afghanistan tourist visa is issued to individuals who intend to visit for natural beauties, tourism and historic places.
- The tourist visa is issued with a validity of 90 days with a 30 days stay period.
- Only single-entry visas are issued.
- Visa applicants are required to provide a copy of their return plane ticket, hotel reservation or proof of accommodation.
- This documents MUST contain the full names of all the people that are applying for the visa.
- An application cover letter should also be included stating the places you plan to visit and the duration of your stay.
- Note that employment is not permitted under a Tourist Visa.
- A tourist visa can only be extended once by the Ministry of Interior Affairs on the approval of the Afghanistan Tourism Department.
- Overstaying your visa is an offense.
Afghanistan Work Visa Eligibility &
Requirements
- Having a work visa is the only way to legally work in Afghanistan.
- In order to apply for the Afghanistan visa, please take note of the following:
- You must submit your original passport, plus a photocopy of the name page. Visas can only be stamped on your original passport.
- The passport should have at least 6 months validity left and have at least 2 blank pages.
- You must have a reference number issued by the Afghanistan Minister of Foreign Affairs, an employment contract/appointment letter and an application letter attested by the applicant’s embassy.
- All fields are mandatory when filling the application form. If a section doesn’t apply, please type in “None” or “N/A’. Incomplete forms will be rejected.
- Check for omission and errors before you print the form. Changes or correction is not allowed on the printed form. You must print a new form in case of any change or correction.
- Do not use staple for your documents. A paper clip is fine.
- The passport-type photograph must be recent, full face and frontal, taken against a white background. The dimension is 35mm wide and 45mm tall.
- Use paper clip to attach the photo face-down (avoid scratching) to the form.

Requirements
- The student visa is issued to those who intend to study or conduct researches within Afghanistan’s Government or private academic institution.
- The Afghanistan student visa is of three entry categories each with a 90 days stay:
- single entry
- double entry
- multiple entry
- You are required to provide a reference number issued by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Afghanistan, admission/bonafide or introduction letter from the university/institution he/she has been admitted into.

- Transit Visa is for foreigners who are travelling to another country via Afghanistan
- This Visa has two entry types:
- Single entry
- Double entry
- The validity of this visa for air travellers is one month with a 3 day stay and for road travellers, six days.
- A valid copy of the visa of the destination country and air ticket to the destination country are required documents.
- Transit Visa is usually issued based on mutual agreement and reciprocity with the right to enter once or twice.
