Aaron Boone Yankees Manager

The New York Yankees acquired Boone from the Reds for Brandon Claussen, Charlie Manning, and money on July 31, 2003. In 54 games after the exchange, he hit .254 with a .720 OPS, six grand slams, and 31 RBIs.

During Game 7 of the 2003 American League Championship Series (ALCS), Boone hit a walk-off home run in the eleventh inning, off of Tim Wakefield, which gave the New York Yankees a 6–5 triumph over the Boston Red Sox, in this manner drawing out the Curse of the Bambino.

The New York Daily News dubbed the play the “Scourge of the Boonebino”. This grand slam was evaluated the ninth-best homer ever on Baseball Tonight. For quite a while a short time later, Red Sox fans called Boone “Aaron Fucking Boone,” much as they called Bucky Dent “Bucky Fucking Dent.”

In January 2004, Boone tore the anterior cruciate tendon in his left knee during a get b-ball game. The game abused the standard MLB player contract, which denies partaking in the slow time of year ball, skiing, and surfing. The Yankees promptly indicated that they would end his agreement. Not long after exchanging for Alex Rodriguez to play third put together, the Yankees discharged Boone on February 27, 2004.

Aaron Boone Walk-off

Boone ended the 2003 ALCS with a walk-off homer against the Red Sox, sending the Yankees to the World Series. Fast forward 16 years later, and Boone is in the Yankees dugout, managing the club against Houston in Game 6 of the ALCS.

He watched as Houston’s José Altuve ended the ALCS with a walk-off homer, sending the Astros to the World Series. And with that, Boone becomes the first person in MLB history to hit a series-clinching walk-off homer as a player, then lose on a series-clinching walk-off dinger as a manager (Elias Sports Bureau).
