Pearse Doherty and Leo Vardkar’s personal exchange at Leaders’Question has caused an uproar on the internet. Both parties were heard alleging each other of their past actions.
Tánaiste Leo Varadkar and finance spokesperson for Sinn Féin, Pearse Doherty, grabbed viewers’ attention after their verbal exchange during Leaders’questions that turned personal afterward. But, citizens wonder how Vardkar was able to get such personal information about Doherty.
Why Is Pearse Doherty Arrested?
Pearse Doherty faces allegation amid Dail row. During Leaders’ Questions, Leo Varadkar and Doherty had a bitter and personal exchange.
The two have been in discussing the cost-of-living problem. But, at the same time, Mr. Varadkar had previously dismissed requests for an emergency budget to address the crisis, which has escalated the situation.
As a result, Doherty mentioned the material submitted to the DPP in connection with the inquiry into the Tánaiste’s GP contract leak, which caused Varadkar to accuse the other party.
He said that Doherty had abused and mistreated a garda (the state police force of the Republic of Ireland), ultimately resulting in his arrest and prosecution in court. The accused has not said anything in response, but netizens have been expressing their curiosity online.
Leo Varadkar Allegations On Pearse Doherty During Leaders’ Questions
Pearse Doherty began Leaders’ Questions by mentioning a private dinner held by Varadkar to commemorate Fine Gael’s ten years in power. He accused Leo of receiving money from Vegabonds.
He also mentioned the indifference that Varadkar had shown over time. Even during the time he held the private dinner, he said that ESRI had completed a report concluding that almost three in 10 households lived in energy poverty.
While all these allegations against Leo were heard, he quickly shot it back to Pearse, saying the corruption coming out of his mouth was surprising since he had been prosecuted too.
He further said that Pearse was once arrested for mistreating a garda. Although he got away with the conviction because of his age, it is not false that he was once prosecuted.
