Apart from his hefty net worth, Vitali Klitschko has won several boxing championships and accolades, as well as has earned the nickname “Dr. Ironfist” for his exceptionally powerful punches in the ring. Klitschko’s career began in the slightly different field of kickboxing, where he competed as an amateur and a professional before switching to boxing. In 1995, Klitschko won the super heavyweight championship at the World Military Games in Italy. That same year, he took the silver medal at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Berlin. Since then, Klitschko’s career in boxing has been steadily on the rise, most recently defending his heavyweight WBC title against Tomasz Adamek, winning by technical knockout. Outside of the world of boxing, Klitschko is a practitioner of the deceptively intellectual pursuit of chess, along with his brother. Vitali has drawn a comparison between boxing and chess, given that both pursuits involve heavy strategizing between two opponents. Since that loss, he actually has been elected to several offices, most recently as leader of the Ukrainian Democratic Alliance for Reform.
