Jack Hanna is a retired American zookeeper.
Jungle Jack is previously served as the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium’s director emeritus. He started working at the zoo in 1978 and retired in 2020. Many consider him responsible for elevating its quality and reputation.
Apart from his career, Jack also appeared on Good Morning America and with other media personalities, including Johnny Carson and James Corden. His TV programs include Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures, Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild, and Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures.
Filmmakers of the documentary, Conservation Game, accused the Columbus Zoo and Jack of misrepresenting the location from where they acquired animals. They allegedly violated strict animal care standards and ethics policies for accredited facilities.

Still alive, Jack Hanna seems alright.
However, his family announced him having dementia on 7 April 2021. Moreover, the doctors considered it to be Alzheimer’s disease. As per his daughters, his health condition progressed beyond their anticipation, a lot in the months before the diagnosis.
Further, they also mentioned Jack’s inability to participate in public life and asked for privacy. Following the news, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, where he worked for over four decades, expressed their sadness via social media. Since then, neither he nor his family members have updated anything related to his health.
Nonetheless, the internet is full of accident rumors. The cause of it seems to be a New Jersey crash between a car and a truck on 16 January 2022 that led to the death of two people, 24-year-old Tyshaun Carter and 53-year-old Christopher Blackmon.
Under that report, New Jersey 101.5 wrote something about an agronomy professor, Jack Hanna’s breeding a hardy, tough-skinned tomato in the late 1950s. This person is different than the retired zookeeper.

Jack Hanna’s wife is Suzi Hanna, a former cheerleader at Muskingum.
The couple married on 20 December 1968 have three children. Two of his daughters, Kathleen and Julie Hanna, have appeared on his shows, including Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild. As for Suzanne Hanna, there isn’t much about her online, including her educational qualifications and professional background.
Jack’s daughter, Julie, has leukemia, a disease she has had since childhood. On the announcement of his dementia diagnosis, his daughters also mentioned the recovery phase of Julie from major surgery.
