Zara Anne Elizabeth Tindall MBE OLY is a British equestrian, an Olympian, and the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal, and Captain Mark Phillips. She is the niece of King Charles III and is 20th in the line of succession to the British throne.
Tindall won the Eventing World Championship in Aachen in 2006. That same year, she was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year by the public. In 2012, she carried an Olympic flame at Cheltenham Racecourse on her horse Toytown.
Tindall frequently supports and attends events for various charitable causes, mainly revolving around spinal injuries, equestrianism, and children’s causes.
In June 2015, Tindall launched a line of jewellery collection, named “Zara Phillips Collection”, in collaboration with Australian designer John Calleija.
In October 2021, Tindall competed in Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill and finished in 11th place with a score of 30.4, riding Gleadhill House Stud Ltd’s 12-year-old horse named Class Affair. In May 2022, Tindall won the advanced class at the Chatsworth Horse Trials, riding Class Affair.

Phillips attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. He then went on to serve in the Army as a Second Lieutenant. By the time he married Princess Anne in 1973, Phillips was an acting Captain. He was promoted to Captain in July 1975, and eventually retired from the Army in 1978.
Concurrently with his military career, Phillips became a champion equestrian. In 1972, he was part of the British event team that won Olympic gold medals. Though, individually, Phillips came in 35th place.
The couple met through the equestrian circuit—Anne is also a champion horseback rider. They announced their engagement in May 1973, and were married that November at Westminster Abbey.
After Zara’s birth, the Princess Anne and Phillips were rumored to have marital troubles. The pair were rarely seen together and both were thought to be involved in extramarital affairs.
The couple separated in 1989 and, eventually, divorced in 1992 after years of marital strain. That year, Princess Anne remarried to Commander Timothy Laurence, with whom she had been involved for years.
Phillips moved on as well, marrying Sandy Pflueger, a fellow equestrian, in 1997. The couple had a daughter, Stephanie, that year. However, after fifteen years together, they divorced due to Phillips’s infidelity—Phillips moved in with a woman 28 years his junior. He is still dating Lauren Hough, who is a showjumper.
