In 2000, Stynes started working as a presenter for Channel V Australia. She switched to MAX in 2007 and began hosting a program there called “The Know.” She hosted “The Circle,” a morning program on Network Ten, from 2010 until 2012. She served as the host of the SBS documentary “Is Australia Sexist?” in 2018.
On a “The Circle” episode that aired on February 28, 2012, Stynes and George Negus commented on a picture of a decorated soldier named Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith.
They personally contacted Roberts-Smith after receiving criticism, and she accepted their apology while noting that there was no malice intended. Negus emphasized that his remarks were misinterpreted and weren’t intended to be personal attacks on Roberts-Smith.
On September 13, 2014, Fairfax Media apologized to Stynes and Negus for their inaccurate interpretation and confirmed that neither person was referring to Cpl Roberts-Smith specifically.
The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, and news.com.au, all owned by News Limited, also withdraw the misleading claims.
