Yumi Tasma Stynes is a feminist podcaster and novelist from Australia who was born on June 2, 1975. She rose to prominence as the anchor of the ABC Radio podcast “Ladies, We Need to Talk,” which focuses on female health and sexuality. She has participated in a number of television and radio programs in addition to her podcasting career.

From 2000 to 2012, she hosted “The Circle,” a morning television show, and she also worked as a television presenter for Channel V Australia and Max. In 2013, she hosted the Mix 106.5 FM radio breakfast show in Sydney.

Notably, Yoshio Honjo’s portrait of Stynes was chosen as a finalist for the prestigious 2022 Archibald Prize.

Stynes co-hosted the nationally syndicated program “3 PM Pick-Up” with Chrissie Swan in August 2011, which aired on Mix 101.1, Mix 106.5, Mix 102.3, Mix 106.3, and 97.3 FM. She remained a co-host until August 2012, when she was succeeded by Jane Hall.

Stynes made history in January 2013 when she joined Mix 106.5’s breakfast show alongside Sami Lukis to anchor the first all-female duo on FM commercial radio in Sydney.

Stynes joined the KIIS Network in January 2017 and co-hosted “3 PM Pick-Up” with Katie ‘Monty’ Dimond and Rebecca Judd. She remained a co-host until the show was discontinued in December 2022.

Yumi Stynes Sex Books for Kids Big W

A “graphic” sex book aimed at children as young as eight is being offered at Big W, which has alarmed outraged parents.

It is marketed as a “frank, age-appropriate introductory guide to sex and sexuality for teens of all genders” in Dr. Melissa Kang and Yumi Stynes’ Welcome to Sex: Your no-silly-questions guide to sexuality, pleasure, and figuring it out, which was published in May.

However, the Woolworths-owned department store has faced criticism when a Chris Primod’s podcast presenter Instagram video that showed parts of the book’s pages went viral. The content, according to detractors, is much too mature for the audience it’s designed for.
