With one of his brothers jailed for murder and another shot and killed while Thug was in elementary school, it’s really safe to say that American rapper Young Thug had a rocky start to life.
He is no stranger to the juvenile detention center as he and his 11 siblings have all had trouble with the law. Nevertheless, his very rocky start doesn’t stop him from chasing his dreams and looking to where he is now. Since breaking into the music world in 2013, Young Thug has collaborated with a host of famous rappers, including Kanye West, Drake, Rich Homie, Birdman and TI and Gucci Mane. In addition to industry heavy hitters, the young rapper has also received a lot of support from his fans.
While he had gained fame in 2013, Thug’s first popularity started growing in 2011, when he started collaborating with the aforementioned artists.
Young Thug Wiki
Born Jeffery Lamar Williams on August 16, 1991, Young Thug is an American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. The Atlanta-born rapper had one of those early days that left most people with a shattered life. He was born the tenth of eleven Sylvan Hills children and grew up in the Jonesboro South projects, which were later demolished. Life was so rough that, alongside his many siblings, Thug had his share of recriminations. But, he was able to do something good with it all.

Although he didn’t plan to become a rapper for very long, his unconventional vocal style and fashion sense appealed to him a lot, especially after his collaborations with big name rappers such as Rich Homie Quan, Birdman, Cash Out , Shawty Lo and Gucci Mane. His music is largely devoid of traditional rap lyricism and sometimes unintelligible meaning.
Right before his taste of fame, Young Thug originally released a string of independent mixtapes beginning in 2011 with I Came Out of Nothing. He subsequently signed with Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad Records in early 2013, paving the way for stardom. Shortly after the record sold, he released his debut mixtape 1017 Thug to critical acclaim. This comes after the release of the first three episodes of his mixtape series I Came From Nothing throughout 2011 and 2012. Listening to the installments, though, got Mane’s attention.
1017 rogue is making waves in the industry with plenty of milestones and praise from music critics. Also, it was ranked number 96 by Pitchfork as one of the best albums of the first half of the 2010s decade. Its success was not about to fade, as in 2014 Young recorded more milestones in his career. He recorded several 1017 Brick Squad songs with Kayne West, Rich Homie and Chief Keef and even graced the cover of ‘The Fader’. In March 2014, he announced the release of his debut album titled Carter 6, proof of his admiration for Lil Wayne’s hit album Tha Carter .. However, apparently Wayne didn’t like the tribute and the hashed words don’t let fans know his feelings. So, claiming to have been threatened with legal action, Young announced that he was changing the title to “Barter 6”.
A few hit tracks and mixtapes later, Young is arguably one of hip-hop’s best listeners. He announced that he would launch his own record label, YSL Records. Apparently, he was fed up with all the drama of signing with record companies.
Milestones
He has several hit mixtapes with “Barter 6” taking center stage. Possibly as a result of his feud with Lil Wayne at the time, the album was ranked number 22 on the US Billboard 200. However, the mixtape’s success can also be attributed to its unconventional and acclaimed hitting style.
His most famous single Picacho made the top 100 tracks in both Rolling Stone and Fork
According to the December 4, 2014 issue of Rolling Stone Young Thug is the “most exciting new voice in hip-hop” and “hip-hop’s new Crown Prince”.
He was among the 25 new rappers to watch in the bi-monthly fashion magazine – Complex.
Young Thug has earned multiple nominations including BET Hip-Hop Awards in the Who Blew Up, Best Hip-Hop Style and Best Club Banger categories, as well as BET Awards at the Coca-Cola Viewers Choice Award in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
Height, teeth
The Atlanta-born rapper stands proudly at 1.91m. While he’s usually seen wearing dental grills, whenever Young takes them off, we’re always amazed to see his neatly arranged, pretty white teeth.
Young Thug’s Daughter, Fiance, Married, Wife
At only 26 years old, Young Thug already has six children – three girls and three boys by four women. He would have had his first child around the age of 17 or 14. Nevertheless, he has yet to walk the aisles with a woman, although he has put a ring on this one. Young got engaged to Jerrika Karlae in April 2015. Karlae runs a swimwear line while her mother runs rapper Young Dolph. And just in case you were wondering when the couple will get married, it may never be, as they separated in 2017.
One of Young’s daughters has been setting the internet alight with her rapping skills. A video of her dancing and spitting a freestyle better than most adult rappers went viral in 2016 and caused a stir. Watch it here.

Is the young thug gay?
Although his sexual orientation is known as Straight, the rapper seems to embrace controversy at every opportunity. Right after being engaged to Karlae, Young awkwardly declared that he was gay. Apparently that claim doesn’t hold water because he hasn’t been seen with a man since.
Again, Young has this weird love for women’s clothes and doesn’t blink before wearing them to public events or in his music videos. From tank tops to skirts, the rapper rocks them all. Hence, the speculation that he might actually be gay.
