However, something unusual is about to happen in Young And Restless, as Diane Jenkins, who got killed on camera in 2011, will return as a living person.
Diane Jenkins Is Not Leaving Young And Restless
The character of Diane Jenkins would not be leaving the show as of now she is ready to make a comeback with a new actress portraying a role.
Last portrayed by Alex Donnelley, who left CBS’s soap opera, the Young And Restless, in the year 2011, the fictional character returns in 2022.
Alex debuted in 1982 as the first actor to perform the part. While It started out as a two-day little part, it grew into a long-term presence due to the popularity it gained.
In 2001, Donnelley stepped down from the role, and Susan Walters was cast in her place.
Walters played the role for three years, but by 2004, he had lost his recurring status. She didn’t appear again until a guest appearance in February 2010.
Diane got replaced months later, and this time Maura West was cast in the part. However, West only played Diane for a few months as the character was shown getting killed in 2011.
Now, in 2022, the character will be re-imagined with Walters at the helm. The actress and former model appear ecstatic to be back in the spotlight.
Susan Walters Makes A Comeback To Her Character Diane Jenkins
Susan Walters played Diane Jenkins on Young And Restless twice in her career earlier, from late 2001 through 2004 and then momentarily in 2010. Now she is ready to make a major revival for the character while returning in her old role.
Walters addressed her sentiments about being asked to return to the show in a recent interview with TV Insider. She claimed she had almost missed the opportunity to bring Diane back to life.
Susan had initially ignored the texts offering her the part since she had not paid enough attention to them. She assumed that someone else was attempting to contact her.
Diane was already dead on the show, as the actress and former model knew. Nonetheless, when the opportunity arose, she did not hesitate to accept.
What Had Happened To Diane Jenkins In Y&R?
The character Diane Jenkins was declared dead in 2011 and even her dead body was found in the lake by Patrick Murphy.
Diane’s death had led to a prolonged investigation. Initially, why and who killed her were a complete mystery. But in 2021, evidence was found that indicated Nikki Newman had killed Diane Jenkins in self-defense.
However, further evidence had shown that Nikki’s then-husband Deacon Sharpe had delivered a fatal blow by a rock to Diane’s head, resolving the investigation.
