Yellow Days – Biography & Age
George van den Broek was born in Manchester, England but grew up in Haslemere, a town in South Surrey. His date of birth has not yet been revealed. Nor is anything known about his early years, his family, or even his training. However, his musical adventure is duly documented.
At the age of 11, Van den Broek was given a Christmas present that would change the narrative of his life forever. He was then given a guitar and thus began his journey into the musical. Through his passion and enthusiasm, Yellow days proved that he not only had a good head on his shoulders, but also a head full of potential. Growing up, he created a makeshift studio at the bottom of his garden from which he created songs.
In late 2015, he started releasing solo singles, and in turn, made Soundcloud uploads. Soon, his perfectly honest lyrics and hoarse voice captivated music lovers. What shed more light on him was the genre he played in; pop/rock with styles that include indie rock, alternative/indie rock, and indie pop.
His voice has been defined as one that seems tohave seen many years and life. Perhaps it comes from the thickness of the smog and the scratches, often overwhelmed by the dexterous and mature way in which he channels emotions. His releases include songs about the back-and-forth of small-town life and about depression, anxiety, and politics. Every song in his catalog continued to testify to his maturity. His influences include timeless singers such as Ray Charles, Mac DeMarco, Howlin’ Wolf and Thundercat.
Yellow Days was signed by independent label – Good Years. Under their direction and tutelage, his dark debut EP Inoffensive Melodies arrived in November 2016 to a warm welcome. It was soon followed by a full, jangly, brooding album, Is All Alright in Your World? in October 2017. The LP recounts his struggles with mental health and growing up in modern times. Irish rapper Rejjie Snow also features in one of his tracks titled Lately I. Between the two releases, he released periodic singles in 2017, some of which appeared on his album.
He also performs at music festivals. Following the arrival of their record, Yellow Days performed at the Tropicalia Music And Taco Festival on November 11, 2017 in Long Beach, California. After one of the singles from his EP, Gap in the Clouds accompanied the trailer for the second season of Donald Glover’s FX series Atlanta in early 2018, Yellow Days reached a wider audience. He released a single titled The Way Things Change in April 2018 and embarked on a world tour. He had several sold-out concerts in the United States, then in Europe.
