What would happen if the UK entered an ice age?
Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales would be rendered uninhabitable and most of us would flee to the mainland of Southern Europe. The area would become enormously overcrowded, with migrants from the rest of the northern climes, including all of Scandinavia and most of the Russian federation, having to move south.
How cold was Britain in the Ice Age?
BRITAIN DURING THE LAST ICE AGE
Average temperatures were 5°C (8°F) colder than they are today, allowing a one-kilometre-thick sheet of ice to cover much of the country. The temperature remained below 0°C all year round in northern regions, particularly Scotland, allowing the sheet to remain on the land all year.
When was the UK last under ice?
Much of Britain was covered by ice during several “Ice Ages” over the last 500,000 years. The most recent one ended only 10,000 years ago.
