Make no mistake about it, online gameplay and game streaming has become a real juggernaut within the gaming industry. Even skills specific to online gambling, such as speedrunning, have evolved into a huge online gambling niche. Witwix is a professional online gaming superstar who excels in this niche and isn’t backing down anytime soon.
Playing games has been a core activity in Wix’s life for over 20 years. One thing is clear: playing games is a passion for him. However, he has also mastered the knack of turning his hobby into a real source of income, although he admits that the money he earns sometimes even takes him by surprise.
Witwix Bio
Witwix was born Tom Burke on May 16, 1989. Despite all his humor during his games, Witwix is a pretty individual. There is no information about his birthplace, education or family.
Wix fell in love with the game when his uncle gave him a Super Nintendo game – he was five years old at the time. His uncle immediately regretted this decision, which resulted in Witwix losing almost all of his social life appearance. While other children went to the park or slept, Tom chose to stay indoors and play games for four to five hours at a stretch. He maintained this playing time average for over twenty years.
Luckily, Tom avoided the idiocy his Uncle thought the game would lead him into. He grew up like any normal person, went to school, graduated, and got a pretty decent job. However, his love for the game stayed with him. And then one day, in early 2014, he quit his job. Living off a year’s savings, he launched his online game streaming channel.
But as many expected, he didn’t take the conventional route of starting a Youtube channel; he opted for the relatively smaller platform, Twitch. Witwix says they understood that it would be a huge gaming platform in the future and decided to exploit it immediately. Apparently, his decision paid off.
Wix didn’t have to wait long to start making the money, although it was far from enough to live on. But his situation began to change as he gained popularity with his quirky, interactive and humorous gaming sessions. Perhaps his biggest boost came from his 2015 speedrun title with the indie game I Wanna Be Boshy.
What is the net worth of Witwix?
Simply put, no one knows. Witwix initially saw much of its revenue coming from donations. He saw small contributions of $10 and $20 come in frequently from his many fans to get him to play. In an interview with PSMag, Witwix said he was always surprised by the occasional donations of $1000+ from everyday people who loved watching him play.
Eventually, as his audience grew into the hundreds of thousands, money from advertisements began to roll in and quickly usurped donations as a primary source of revenue. A small percentage of his income also comes from paid voluntary subscriptions to his channel.
Who is Witwix? Girlfriend?
Judging from his social media posts and those of his fans, Wix was in a relationship with a woman named Jendenise, who is also a Twitch streamer herself. The relationship was not smooth and the couple reportedly broke up several times.
In 2017, however, they seemed to have broken up for good. This was reinforced by their tweets. Jendenise revealed in a not-so-veiled tweet that she was quitting Wix and moving out of his house because she no longer trusted him.
After the disbandment, reports began to surface that the Online Gamer was an awful boyfriend. One in particular explained that the last time he took her out to dinner just to break up with her. Reportedly, she’s moved in with the manager of The Wobblers, a group under which Witwix sits.
Other facts to know about the online gambler
1. He’s a businessman who believes in the power of entertainment
Wix runs his channel like a business and enjoys the fact that he makes money from it. However, this has earned it a bad reputation, especially in some areas of the speed game niche. It is said that making money from speedrunning is a way to do away with the pure nature of the niche mind.
Wix, however, believes the exact opposite. He estimates that game streaming (specifically speedrunning) is 75% of the entertainment and only 25% of the game itself. Witwix says most speed enthusiasts believe in ditching entertainment and just focusing on gameplay. The online gamer superstar says that while this approach gets him much higher scores in speedrunning, it would cause him to lose his audience. And in truth, Witwix’s personality, energetic commentary, and cheerful interactions with his audience are probably what keeps them coming back.
2. He forbade a follower to address him by his real name.
There was some controversy over the real name of the publisher who started it said he was banned by Witwix for calling it by its real name on their channel during a stream. He claimed that all attempts to right his wrongs, including apologies and donations, had not worked. While other editors discussed the issue, another contributor said Wix’s real name was not Tom Burke but Witherford Wixorian.
However, judging by several online profiles of the player, the old name wins the debate.
3. Witwix also has a YouTube channel
Although the professional gamer solely depends on Twitch to run his business, he operates a Youtube channel. However, this channel is not for the purpose of making money. He only uses it to post highlights of his game live on Twitch.
