William Zabka, an American actor, author, and director, was born on October 20, 1965, in New York, New York. During Johnny Carson’s first two seasons as host, his father served as the “The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson” associate director. His parents were employed in the motion picture industry.
Zabka’s role in the 1984 blockbuster film “The Karate Kid” contributed to his rise to fame internationally. Success has led to his anticipated $3 million net worth. But the follow-up “Cobra Kai” series, which made its YouTube debut in May 2018, enabled him to gain even more notoriety and popularity. The sitcom’s popularity surged when it moved to Netflix in August 2020.
In 2017, Zabka and Ralph Macchio, his “The Karate Kid” co-star, pitched a revived television series to a group of producers. They received offers from other businesses, including Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Apple, but they chose YouTube Red as the successful bidder in the end.
Zabka and Macchio reportedly made $100,000 every episode for the first two seasons or about $1 million per season per individual. They also work together on the project’s executive producer.
After acquiring the rights from Jerry Weintraub’s Weintraub Entertainment Group, Will Smith’s production company, Overbrook Productions, is in charge of executive producing the program.
