Actor William Shatner was born in Canada on March 22, 1931. He had a career spanning seven decades, but he is best known for playing James T. Kirk in the Star Trek series, from his 1966 television series debut as the captain of the starship Enterprise in the second pilot to his final appearance as Captain Kirk in the seventh Star Trek movie, Star Trek Generations (1994).
Before moving into guest-starring parts in a number of American television shows, Shatner began his screen playing career in Canadian films and television projects. In all 22 episodes of Star Trek: The Animated Series, 21 of the 22 episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series, and the first seven Star Trek films, he played James Kirk.
