William Barr was born to Mary and Donald Barr, faculty members at the prestigious Columbia University. He has three brothers of whom little is known.
William married Christine Moynihan in 1973 and the couple was blessed with three children. Very little information is available about Barr’s children except one: Mary Dally. Mary is an attorney and former federal prosecutor whose duties included prosecuting drug traffickers and notorious gang members in the New York area, a job she held for thirteen years.
When it became apparent that William Barr was going to return to his Justice Department job, rumors of potential conflicts of interest began to surface, given that he was expected to essentially be the “boss” of his daughters.

After her fathers’ appointment, she was transferred to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). Questions about a potential conflict of interest, however, have not been fully resolved since it became known that Tyler McGaughey, Barr’s son-in-law, had joined the office of White House counsel.
