Wild Card Football Game Release Date

Wild Card Football video game is an arcade-style 7-on-7 game developed by Saber Interactive. It will be launched under the Playground Sports banner.

It is publicized as ‘Football for Everyone’ and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch through Epic Games Store.

PC gamers need not worry as the developers have guaranteed that Steam will handle the business end for them.

Since the game has been certified and licensed by NFL Players Association (NFLPA), the real likeness and actual names of footballers will be used. Some of the notable footballers who will be featured in the game are:

• Jalen Hurts
• TJ Watt
• Ja’Marr Chase
• Joey Bosa
• Aaron Donald
• Nick Chubb
• Aamon-Ra St. Brown

The players can be attained through packs by completing challenges and participating in various events. One can collect recent and legendary footballers and have an Ultimate Team-like scenario to battle it in multiplayer mode.

However, it is missing the NFL stamp, so that we won’t experience real team names, logos, and other things under the NFL license’s control.

Colin Kaepernick is the cover athlete of the Wild Card football game. The former San Francisco 49ers Quarterback’s famous afro look is used.

The QB hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and played as a baseball pitcher during his school days at John H. Pitman High School. But, he chose football and enrolled in the University of Nevada, Reno, under a football scholarship.

After recording 82 passing touchdowns in 10,098 yards, he entered the 2011 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers took him in the second round.

He started fifty-eight games for the franchise over six seasons and threw 12,271 yards with 72 passing touchdowns. While rushing, he managed to cover 2,300 yards and completed 13 touchdowns.

In the 2016’s preseason game against Green Bay Packers, Kaepernick stood up against racial injustice and police brutality by sitting instead of standing while the US national anthem was played. Throughout the regular season games, he kneeled during the national anthem.

It became a key moment in his football career. Some praised his effort and bravery, while others were not impressed by his action.

After the 2016 season, the QB was uncontracted by any NFL franchises and remains a free agent. It appears that the athlete was blackballed due to his political stance.

Since then, he has been involved in various activism programs. He started Kaepernick Publishing in February 2020 and published ‘Abolition For The People’ in October that year.

It consisted of 20 essays by activists providing a voice against systematic racism.

In April 2022, he published ‘I Color Myself Different,’ a children’s book. 

Wild Card Football will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

Xbox users can download the video game through the Epic Games Store. The over-the-top power-packed game is more of a video game than a football game.

Wild Card football is also available on Nintendo Switch and other platforms. The developers have included an online multiplayer mode with a crossplay feature.

You can play on your desired platform and compete against users from other platforms. For example, users playing from PC can contest opposite Xbox gamers or Nintendo Switch users.

The game will be released across all platforms on the same day, October 10.

Wild Card gameplay includes 150 Wild Cards containing special abilities like invisibility, blindness, thief, aimless, and cloak ball.

Gamers can play the single-player Season mode with actual past and present players.

They can build their Dream Team by unlocking and obtaining new players from events and challenges. They can also get other amazing rewards like the Wild Cards.

Playing in competitive multiplayer mode against online users across all platforms is always thrilling. Or, you can connect an additional controller and play local multiplayer.

The gameplay is similar to what you know about football. You get to select the play beforehand and choose your Wild Card.

But the primary difference is how the game turns out. The characters are full of aggression and tackle with full force. They can launch the offense up in the air and smash them on the ground.

The defense can even carry the attacker and throw them on the ground.

Likewise, while playing as an offense, you can speed up your players and run like a man possessed. You can decide your play and slow down your opponent to score a touchdown.

Seeing the flying saucers on the field will turn even more interesting. You can play at different locations, from jungle to beach to Niagara Falls.

The endless customization lets you select the logo, team uniform, colors, and other items. You can select your playbooks and build a power-packed deck to bamboozle your opponent.

The Wild Card contains special powers which help you to turn the tide of the play in your favor. 

Imagine the look on your opponent’s face when all your players are invisible, and the other user has no idea what struck them. Or how about turning into a giant and running through the opponent’s defense?
