Lindsey Buckingham was sacked from Fleetwood Mac because of his disagreement over the band’s upcoming tour. There are numerous other reasons that have come to light from various individuals, so take a look at the article.

Lindsey Buckingham is an American singer, musician, songwriter, and producer best known as the former lead guitarist and male lead singer of Fleetwood Mac.

However, the news of him being sacked by the band is still shocking to everyone. He worked in the team from 1975 to 1987 and 1997 to 2018.

Why Was Lindsey Buckingham Sacked From Fleetwood Mac?

Lindsey Buckingham was sacked from Fleetwood Mac because he wanted too much time off to focus on his solo career, as per his ex-partner, Stevie Nicks.

He was fired in 2018 and was replaced by Crowded House singer Neil Finn and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell.

The guitarist was sacked just days after the band was honored at the 2018 MusiCares benefit concert in New York. Buckingham blamed Nicks for his departure in July.

As the band’s manager Irving Azoff told him, “Stevie never wants to share a stage with you again.” The manager was provided with a list of things “Stevie took issue with”.

Such as how he “smirked” during her thank you speech and how he had an outburst over the band’s intro music, ‘Rhiannon.’ He explained his actions and stated that there was never any intention to hurt her.

Azoff told him he was “getting ousted” because Nicks had given the band an “ultimate ultimatum” and forced them to choose between him and her.

However, Steve has a different perspective on the story. She stated, “To be clear, I did not fire him. I did not request that he be fired and I did not demand that he be fired.

To be honest, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation that I deemed toxic to my health. I was finished. So be it if the band went on without me.”

“We consider ourselves extremely fortunate that he is still alive. He feels the same way. He is looking forward to getting better and putting this behind him.”
