Linda Maria Ronstadt is an American singer who performed and recorded in diverse genres including rock, country, light opera, the Great American Songbook, and Latin.
She has earned 11 Grammy Awards, three American Music Awards, two Academy of Country Music awards, an Emmy Award, and an ALMA Award
Why was Linda Ronstadt not at the rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Ronstadt entered the prestigious Hall of Fame but she wasn’t present at the ceremony. This was because she has Parkinson’s disease.
In time, her mobility declined as well. “There’s nothing I can do and I just learned how to live with it,” she says. These days, the rock icon can’t walk far and has severe back pain that keeps her mostly at home.
Ronstadt’s natural vocal range spans several octaves from contralto to soprano, and occasionally she will showcase this entire range within a single work.
Ronstadt was the first female artist in popular music history to accumulate four consecutive platinum albums (fourteen certified million selling, to date)
