DCI-affiliated detectives raided his office before handcuffing him, according to sources within City Hall.

According to the reports, Deputy Speaker Benson Mutura was arrested on the ground of allegedly stealing public funds in his capacity as a public servant.
Mutura claimed that the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) was to blame for his problems.
He has confirmed that his detention was prompted by his assertion that the organization is operating illegally.
He has also stated that it is only dirty politics that is preventing him from returning to the chair.
He went on to say that the witch hunt against him is motivated by politics.
He cited his support for Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign, which he announced less than a fortnight ago.
Following the botched arrest, Mutura was soon after summoned by the DCI to shed light on his alleged graft offenses.
He was expected to appear at the DCI’s headquarters at 2 pm, on the 20th of April, 2022.
