Why was Brian Robinson Jr. shot?

On August 28, 2022, Brian Robinson was shot in the knee and glute during an attempted carjacking by two armed men after leaving a restaurant in Washington, D.C.’s Near Northeast neighbourhood shortly before 6 p.m. EDT.

He had no structural damage and was released from MedStar Washington Hospital Center the next day.

Robinson was placed on the non-football injury reserve list and missed the first four games of the season.

Robinson was medically cleared to play and has made significant progress since being released from the hospital, which was enough to get him into the lineup for the 1-3 Commanders.

He began doing drills as early as September 14, 2022, officially returning to practice on October 8 and making his debut one day later.

Brian Robinson Jr made his NFL debut for the Washington Commanders against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, October 9, 2022, six weeks after being shot in an attempted robbery.
