Why Is Ramie Makhlouf Leaving 1250 Wssp?

Rami Makhlouf, co-host of SKOR North, was one of six individuals laid off by the station last Friday due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Makhlouf called into the station’s only remaining show to say his goodbyes.

Makhlouf has been a standard component of the afternoon drive time commute and a reliable source of sports knowledge on metro Milwaukee radio waves for years.

The Big Show on The Fan’s longstanding host also shared his unique perspective as a displaced Illinois sports fan in Wisconsin.

Unfortunately for local listeners, Makhlouf left The Fan late last year to co-host Mackey & Judd With Ramie on SKOR North in Minneapolis.

Milwaukee’s loss is Minnesota’s gain since he provides intimate knowledge of Chicago sports teams via his fandom and Wisconsin sports experience from his years on the Big Show covering the Packers, Brewers, and Bucks.

Where Is Ramie Makhlouf Going Next?

After Ramie Makhlouf took his exit from 1250 Wssp, he is now actively working in the Ramie show, which is a radio show hosted by him.

Makhlouf joined SKOR North in January 2019 after the station changed its identity from 1500 ESPN.

He was one of the prominent voices helping to modernize the station by focusing more extensively on podcasts and other digital media as a co-host alongside Phil Mackey and Judd Zulgad.

Along with fellow on-air hosts Matthew Coller and Derek Wetmore, producers Ross Brendel and Jonathan Harrison, and social media coordinator Seth Auger, Makhlouf was laid go.

While “not being on a work schedule anyplace” was strange, Makhlouf said the actual gut punch was witnessing the station’s employees split up and not finishing their duties.
