Melissa “Missy” Peregrym is a Canadian actress and former fashion model. Peregrym’s big breakthrough came in 2010 when she landed a lead role in the Canadian television series Rookie Blue in the role of police officer Andy McNally.
In 2012, Peregrym was cast in the leading role of Chloe Jocelyn in Yahoo.com’s web-based series Cybergeddon. Nine chapters were filmed and are available for viewing as of September 27, 2012. The project was supported and funded in part by Norton.
In 2013, she won a Streamy Award for her role in the web series Cybergeddon. In 2014, Peregrym co-starred with Jeff Roop and Eric Balfour in the survival bear attack film Backcountry.
In 2016, Peregrym was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for her role in Rookie Blue but ultimately lost to Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany. In 2018, Peregrym began her current role starring in a lead role as Agent Maggie Bell in FBI, a series on CBS.
Why is Missy not on FBI?
Rumours first kicked up about her departure when Missy stepped away from the end of Season 2 in February 2020 because she was pregnant.
She gave birth to her son in April of that year, but by then, the show was on hold due to COVID-19 and wasn’t slated to begin filming Season 3 until October 2020.
The combination of Maggie temporarily being written off and the show being on hiatus was pretty stressful for fans of the character.
In early February 2022, Missy adorably announced on Instagram that she was pregnant with her second child, who was born on June 6.
With filming for Season 5 starting over the summer, it made sense that Missy would need to take maternity leave, and therefore that Maggie could be missing the first few episodes of the new season.
Is Maggie coming back to FBI show?
Missy Peregrym will be back in uniform next month. CBS announced today that Peregym will return as Maggie Bell for the Nov. 15 episode of FBI. The actress has been on maternity leave after giving birth to her second child in June.
To explain her absence, the FBI producers sent Maggie off on medical leave after she suffered an injury.
In the Nov. 15 episode titled “Ready or Not,” Maggie returns in time to help the team investigate the homicides of a law student on track to attend Quantico and a young man with possible gang ties.
Peregrym is an original cast member of the drama that launched in 2018. The procedural drama that follows the inner workings of the FBI’s New York office is from Craig Turk and Dick Wolf.
