Why Is Charlie Woods Limping Today? Possible Leg Injury In PNC Championship

Charlie Woods is seen limping today during the PNC Championship 2022. Tiger Woods son Charlie rolled his ankle.

Charlie has built a career in golf like his father. The young golfer is in the 48th position on the Hurrican Junior Golf Tour in the Boys’ age group, 11-13.

He has been successful in his career as he has participated in four events till now and has made one 1st position, another 1st tied, and one 2nd position.

However, the 13-year-old will face more challenges in the Junior PGA South Florida tour played by the 13-18 age category. This will be the highlight of his young career, and golf fans will be anticipated to watch how well he fares on this tour.

Amidst his game in the PNC Championship today, Charlie could be seen faltering. People are right to be worried about what has happened to him and what this situation could hold shortly.

Why Is Charlie Woods Limping Today?

Charlie Woods limping was due to his minor leg injury during the PNC.

As per Yahoo Sports, Charlie has injured his left ankle, which has slowed his performance. The injury made him ride with Tiger on the golf cart. Moreover, the injured ankle forced Charlie not to control his weight to deliver a proper swing.

When asked about the injury, Charlie said that it hurt when he had to do some big shots and that walking was getting tough. However, he was also optimistic about it, stating it was all right and too bad.

His father also said it wasn’t so bad as he had a cart to carry him all over the golf course.

Charlie Injury Report From Notah Begay

Golf Channel broadcaster and family friend Notah Begay also commented on Charlie Woods injury.

During the broadcast, announcer Dan Hicks talked about the situation with Notah.

Dan asked about Charlie’s health and made an opinion about how Charlie had gotten a sprained ankle during the game. Notah said he wouldn’t call it a sprain and was just a rolled case. Notah was sure about this since he had asked Charlie himself.

Begay also sounded not so concerned about the issue and feels like the injury will not slow the young Woods down.

Reaction from the Golf Community

The golf community has got mixed reactions regarding the leg injury of Charlie.

The Tiger Woods fan community’s official Twitter account, TWLegion, tweeted on December 16, 2022, that when Charlie was fighting his swing on the range, he lifted his pant leg, and it appeared that his left leg was taped up significantly. One user also commented that he had noticed the video of him and his father walking with a limp.

TWLegion also tweeted the very next day with a photo of Charlie falling, adding concern over Charlie’s foot status. One user stated that watching Charlie with such an injury was getting painful. While another chimed in that Charlie is stubborn like his father, which has made him continue to pursue further games.

When Golf.com’s Twitter account made a video tweet about Tiger and his son in the game, Charlie’s limp can be noticed. Some users shared the same sentiment, as many fans questioned how Charlie got in such a condition.

A user named @SDD0071 posted a video of Charlie falling over a tee shot on December 17, 2022. The person then questioned whether it was growing pain or an injured foot. The announcers also said that it was tough to watch Charlie fall.

One person replied that Tiger should withdraw and allow Charlie to heal. At the same time, another remarked that they shouldn’t be analyzing a child.

Similarly, a College golfer named Cameron Jourdan also tweeted that Charlie is so like his father that he even mimics Tiger’s limp while walking. Jourdan later added that Charlie had rolled his ankle. One user replied why he told Charlie was mimicking when Jourdan knew he had a bad ankle.

Why did Jourdan comment on Charlie mimicking his limp like his dad? Tiger also has a leg injury that has plagued him in his recent games.

Tiger Woods Shares Injury With His Son

Tiger has suffered from Pantar Fascilits in his right foot.

This common foot condition has prevented the 15-time world champion from giving his 100% effort.

Tiger announced his illness on November 28, 2022, via Twitter. He had decided to withdraw from the Hero World Challenge just 3 days before the 1st game started.  He said that he had difficulty walking due to Plantar Fasciitis. He said that his doctors and trainers had recommended he not push hard in this condition.

This announcement led to the golf community showing concern for the World champion and wishing him well for a speedy recovery.

However, Tiger added that he planned to still compete in the PNC Championship, and it looks like his plan came to fruition.

This foot condition results in the patient having ‘stabbed’ like pain whenever they put their foot down on the ground. It is caused due to the inflammation of the tight band of tissue, as Dr. Eveline Tan reported for the New York Times.

After hearing about Charlie’s injury, Dan Hicks quickly stated that the pair had already suffered from Tiger’s limp and now had the son to share the same problem. Hicks added that it would be a marvelous win if they could clinch the PNC title with their injuries.

Charlie Woods Risk of Skin Condition

Charlie Woods doesn’t have the risk of a skin condition like his father in 2021.

Tiger’s injury at that time was severe as he had a shattered right leg after being in a car crash.

This led to him with an exposed bone that broke through the skin. The open fracture made for the possibility of skin being infected if not treated fast. This danger made him opt for surgery that could have included a skin graft.

However, Tiger is not afraid of his condition or his son’s possible face discoloration. The veteran golfer has already stated that his son is in better shape than him, and the pair will be ready for the next game.

Charlie never had vitiligo or any skin disease.

Team Woods Performance in the PNC Championship

Team Woods is behind Team Thomas after the Round 1 of the PNC Championship 2022.

On day 1, it didn’t look like they would be performing well as they only landed a 1- under for the 1st three holes. However, they have gradually made progress and are tied in the 2nd position along with Team Thomas.

Charlie struggled initially but returned to his form after getting the holes from No. 4 to No. 11 with a 9-under with his father.

Currently, Team Thomas has a 15-under 57 while Team Woods remain behind TeamThomas with a two-stroke deficit of 13-under and hope to land it in the next round.
