Why Is Ashland Leaving Y&R 2022?

Ashland left Y&R in January 2022, and his reasons were entirely accidental for actor Richard Burgi. He was reported to be fired for breaking the show’s COVID rules.

On February 8, 2021, Theo Vanderway made the first reference to him. He believed he was the father of Tara Locke’s son Harrison and was Tara’s husband.

Robert Newman has been playing him since 2022, after Richard Burgi played the part for the first time in 2021–2022.

It was revealed on January 11, 2022, that Robert Newman, a former daytime host, would join the show’s cast as a recast Ashland. On February 9, he made his debut.

The actor disclosed that he had tested positive for COVID-19 close to Christmas and had waited the five days recommended by the CDC before going back to work.

He said he “tested twice adversely at the studio and turned up to work” after his return. However, official regulations for the show stipulate ten days of isolation for people who test positive based on the CDC’s earlier recommendations despite the new period.

“So I unintentionally broke the COVID norms and procedures of the show, admitted Burgi, adding, “I appreciate whatever the show’s judgment is. Like everyone else, they are doing their best.”
