Why does William Shatner not like Star Trek?

Canadian actor William Shatner is well-known for portraying James T. Kirk in the Star Trek series. He began performing in Canada before making appearances in several US TV programs.

The majority of the animated series, the first seven Star Trek films, and all of the episodes of the original Star Trek television series featured Shatner as James Kirk.

In addition, he has authored a number of books on his experiences both on and off the set, including Star Trek novels and the television-adapted TekWar science fiction series.

Along with his work on Star Trek, Shatner also starred in the TV series T.J. Hooker and hosted the reality program Rescue 911.

From the 1970s until the 2010s, he also had numerous guest appearances on other TV shows, including two episodes of the Columbo detective series.

Why does William Shatner not like Star Trek?

Shatner has admitted that he doesn’t like watching the show or the movies for any other reason than that he doesn’t like science fiction in general.

Hence, rather than any specific behind-the-scenes conflict, it appears that Shatner’s own beliefs and experiences are the main causes of his distaste for Star Trek.
