Since she was just three years old, Sophie Turner has been a member of the Playbox Theatre Company and has been acting. When she turned 11, she left Warwick Prep School to enroll at the private The King’s High School for Girls.
Turner was a committed student and earned good results on her GCSE exams despite her demanding acting schedule.
When Turner was only 14 years old, she landed her first major television role as Sansa Stark, which she played for the entire eight seasons of the show.
Her theatre teacher pushed her to try out for the part, and the producers were struck by her talent and commitment.
She initially turned her blonde hair burgundy for the part but eventually started donning wigs.
Turner was nominated for a Young Artist Award in 2012 for Best Performance in a TV Series – Supporting Young Actress in addition to her Emmy nomination for her role on Game of Thrones.
Why does Sophie Turner wear a wig?
“[It was] really itchy,” Sophie Turner stated. Additionally, the snow machines would be running, leaving behind tiny pieces of snow paper that would stick to the grease.
It was repulsive. However, Turner acknowledges that eventually, she began donning wigs to protect her hair from harm (and excessive grease!).
Why wasn’t Sophie Turner allowed to wash her hair?
The directors of GoT haven’t disclosed much about this. However, as Sophie Turner recently revealed, she was not permitted to wash her hair while filming certain seasons of Game of Thrones, and the hair woes of the women of Westeros continue.
And all this after the naturally blonde spent years switching between Sansa Stark’s striking red and her own hue, which she was born with.
