Why did Trace Adkins get shot?
Trace Adkins got shot by his ex-wife, Julie Curtis. The duo got into a banter that nearly cost his life in 1994. Julie Curtis shot Trace Adkins and the bullet went through his heart and both lungs.
This happened while he was trying to disarm his second wife, Julie Curtis after she pointed a gun at him when a fight over his drinking turned violent. Emergency surgery was done and he survived. However, Trace Adkins forgave her and did not press any charges against her. The couple got divorced 3 years after the traumatic incident happened.
“I attempted to scare it out of her by shouting, ‘Give me the shot, or I’ll take it away from you and pound your blasted brains out with it.’ I would never do something like that, but I told her in the hopes of frightening her. The bullet entered both of my lungs and both of my heart’s ventricles.”
