Why did Tobey Maguire retire Spider-Man?

After months of waiting, Spider-Man: No Way Home finally arrived on December 17 and caused a stir online.

The Marvel movie’s opening weekend box office haul of more than $600 million indicates that it has the potential to outperform its predecessors.

With more than $1 billion in sales, Far From Home is the most profitable of the Spider-Man movies that have previously been produced. But before Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield assumed the role of Spider-Man, there was Tobey Maguire.

Despite Spider-Man 2’s movie office triumph, Spider-Man 3 didn’t do as well. With Spider-Man 4, filmmaker Sam Raimi attempted to gain favor following harsh criticism.

But because of scheduling issues, the movie was never made, and Tobey had to give up his Spider-Man costume.
