Why did Tamron Hall leave the show today, where is she now?

NBC’s popular Today Show has been on the rise since 2016. The show finished at the very top of the 2016 charts, ending in the lucrative 25-54 demographic and scraping ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS’s This Morning. Tamron Hall is the first African-American broadcast journalist to ever host the popular show. FORBES has gathered from a source that when it comes to news programming, Today Show accounts for over 50% of NBC’s revenue, in fact, it is described as the network’s revenue engine as it has grossed over $435 million in 2015 and Tamron has been with Today for just a few years.

With such success, it’s fair to wonder why she had to give it all up.

Why did Tamron Hall leave today?

The decision to leave Today was not easy for broadcast reporter Tamron Hall, she only made the decision after hearing that she would be giving up her 9 a.m. time slot to Megyn Kelly, a former Fox News star who recently joined the NBC team. According to an insider who was interviewed by PEOPLE, Tamron was unlikely to just sit on the sidelines. The NBC rep said the network was not happy with Tamron’s decision to quit, in fact, her co-workers expressed disappointment with her decision but still, they wished her luck in her next attempt. . In his expression of excitement for his new chapter, Tamron describes his departure from Today as a new day.

In the week that followed, the details of the story were made public in an issue of PEOPLE. The reasons why an accomplished broadcast journalist who through diligence and perseverance rose through the ranks of NBC, will suddenly feel the need to give up her dream job where things were going extremely well for her a while ago. only a few weeks. His decision to quit came as an enigma to his fans because Tamron enjoyed many benefits at NBC. In addition to performing gigs on MSNBC Live and Dateline, she got bonus exposure on Today, filling in for Savannah Guthrie, the 9am host who was on maternity leave.

A few days ago, Today’s team was congratulated for reaching the top of the rating ladder by NBC via email. PEOPLE gathered from a source very close to Tamron that today’s team moved ABC’s longtime Live with Kelly up the charts for a few weeks, and then it just magically happened, reports have been circulating that a new anchor for Today was coming on board and who was it? None other than longtime ABC’s Live with Kelly host Megyn Kelly. Tamron, being the likely host to make way for Kelly, made the choice of his own free will.

Fans today who heard that Tamron was about to lose hosting duties came to their defense, and it was well noted by fans that a black woman must be replaced by someone who has had problems with racism in the past. Although Tamron Hall left Today of her own free will, it was concluded that the radio and television journalist was hurt, furious and offended to lose her starring role to Kelly without any compensation from NBC. Tamron, who viewed the decision as a demotion, was backed by the National Association of Black Journalists who condemned NBC’s decision in full. They labeled the act of trading Tamron for Kelly as “money laundering.”

NBC then agreed to meet and deliberate on the matter with the National Association of Black Journalists. Tamron also found inspiration in Iola Johnson, who is the first African-American anchorwoman in Dallas.

Where is Tamron Hall now?

It looks like Tamron has finally broken the long silence since leaving NBC. In a video on her Twitter account, she took the time to express her gratitude to her fans for their unwavering support and also
revealed what she’s been up to since leaving NBC and MSNBC.

The radio journalist told fans she had spent the first two days after finding herself unexpectedly out of a job by simply cleaning out her closet and getting rid of an excess designer outfit.

It was later reported that Tamron landed a new job with
Investigation Discovery. Group Chairman Henry Schleiff, while ringing the opening bell at NASDAQ to commemorate the network’s 10th anniversary, decided to surprise Tamron with the new commitment.

Tamron is the current host of Deadline: Crime on Investigation Discovery.
