Kelly Meafau was a talented Samoan player who disappeared after jumping off the Pont-Vieux bridge on Friday evening during the celebration of the end of the season and the famous 48-40 win of his team over Narbonne.
The ProD2 player, from the French second flight, jumped 22 meters off the Pont bridge and his body was only recovered a day after on Saturday morning.
His friend Christopher Voatoa also jumped into the river to rescue Kelly from drowning but sadly was unsuccessful in his attempt.
Christopher was quickly rescued by the firefighters and called to the bridge after the incident.
Voatoa was suffering from hypothermia after his severe contact with the frigid water.
