To continue playing Abby on contract while also pursuing other opportunities, Marci offered to go to recurring status on DAYS, but that didn’t work out.
Marci stated that she attempted to meet in the middle as they tried to provide her with options, but this did not work out. It was difficult for them to find a middle ground that worked for them.
Nonetheless, she admitted that she was shocked to learn that Abigail was being murdered. The actress stated that she understands why they made the decision but disapproves of it. Abigail is a legacy character, and she fully expected them to recast her, just as Marci herself was recast in 2016, taking over for Kate Mansi.
On the other hand, death is rarely a permanent condition in soaps, especially in Salem, where people constantly return from the dead. So there is still a chance that Abigail will be resurrected, with Miller reprising the role.
“We’ll see,” mused the actress. “It depends on what’s going on in my life now.” I never say never, but I don’t intend to return next year.”

Marci Miller and Ryan Matteson have been married for around 13 years. Ryan is an entrepreneur and web designer currently involved in KaleCart, an organic farm-to-table business.
Since November 2013, Matteson has been the founder of Sexy Lunch Club, which produces beautiful, delicious, and healthy food in Los Angeles, California.
