American R&B singer LaTavia Roberson was born on November 1, 1981. She became well-known in the late 1990s as a founding member of the R&B group Destiny’s Child, one of the most successful girl groups in history in terms of global sales. Roberson made two studio albums while a member, sold over 25 million records, and won two Grammy Awards and three Soul Train Music Awards.
Roberson temporarily created the girl group Anjel after leaving the group, which also featured former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett. Roberson has acted as the lead in a number of stage productions, such as Those Jeans, How to Love, and Not My Family. Together with vocalists like Angie Stone and Keke Wyatt, she joined the core cast of R&B Divas: Atlanta in 2014.
Why did LaTavia Roberson get kicked out of Destiny’s Child?
Luckett and Roberson claimed that management, which also happened to be Beyoncé’s father, Matthew, had underpaid them and positioned Beyoncé for success on her own. The two pushed for fresh leadership. They claim that as a result, they were abruptly expelled from the group.
