Unexpectedly, a candidate has surfaced who might take Bill O’Brien’s place as Alabama’s offensive coordinator.
According to ESPN’s Chris Low, Tommy Rees has emerged as the Crimson Tide’s top target.
The 30-year-old former Fighting Irish quarterback is now the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame.
Rees, according to Low, has spoken with Nick Saban and will visit the University of Alabama campus on Thursday. O’Brien left the Tide to play for the Patriots in the NFL once more.
Who will replace O Brien at Alabama?
Tommy Rees, the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame, has been hired by Nick Saban to serve in the same capacity at Alabama, the university said on Monday.
Bill O’Brien, who left following an 11-2 season to assume the same position with the New England Patriots, is replaced by Rees.
