The Hills, one of MTV’s most popular reality shows, provided viewers with memorable moments and dramatic storylines. One of the most iconic scenes from the show involved Lauren Conrad (LC) choosing a boy over a life-changing trip to Paris with Teen Vogue. However, recent revelations by Whitney Port, one of the show’s cast members, have shed new light on that famous scene.
During the season one finale, viewers witnessed the heartbreaking moment when Lauren made the decision to stay behind and be with Jason Wahler instead of going to Paris. This choice earned her the title of “the girl who didn’t go to Paris.” It was a pivotal moment that had fans around the world shouting at their TV screens.
However, Whitney Port, in a recent interview with Vogue, has revealed that the scene was staged and that she never actually went to Paris. She disclosed that the summer internship opportunity at Teen Vogue didn’t even exist. Despite the fabricated storyline, Whitney saw it as an opportunity to showcase her determination to pursue a career in fashion.
In her interview, Whitney said, “That was so ridiculous. It wasn’t an ideal situation, but I thought, okay, this is good for me because I really was pursuing a career in fashion. I thought it showed that I was down and determined to do this. It was very Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs. I got dressed up in an airport look and went for it. And then, after filming the dramatic departure scene, everyone just went home.”
While the revelation may disappoint fans who believed the scene was real, it serves as a reminder of the scripted nature of reality television. The Hills: New Beginnings, the show’s reboot, has been announced, with many original cast members returning, including Whitney Port, Audrina Patridge, Heidi and Spencer Pratt, Brody Jenner, Stephanie Pratt, and new addition Mischa Barton.
Although Lauren Conrad is not participating in the reboot, fans can look forward to seeing familiar faces and new beginnings when The Hills: New Beginnings airs, though an official air date has yet to be announced.
