Alex Humphrey is not declared dead as his body hasn’t been discovered. On August 11, 2009, he arrived in Panama City, the nation’s capital. The following day, he took a bus to Boquete, a well-liked hiking destination in the mountains.

He made reservations for four nights in the city before emailing his mother to let her know he had arrived. The proprietor of the hostel where he lived claims to have seen Alex leave early the following day, but he never returned.

Two days later, the hostel owner entered the guest’s room out of growing anxiety and found his belongings unharmed but abandoned. He notified the Humphrey family of Alex’s disappearance five days after he was last seen.

Sinaproc, a search and rescue organization in Panama, started looking for him and used 30 to 40 men and helicopters to scour the region. Amid all those search operations, Alex’s body was never recovered, and his status is a mystery.

Where Is His Mother Gill Now?

Alex Humphrey’s parents are not seen in public often. They lost their youngest child and couldn’t say goodbye to him for the last time. They reside in their home in Hazel Grove, Stockport, England, hoping for their beloved child’s return.

After Alex vanished, his two elder brothers came to Panama with the assistance of the country’s ministers to search for their lost brother. The brothers circulated posters about missing people to bus and taxi drivers in the area and participated in national television appeals.

They looked into a report that Alex appeared to be lost at a bus stop in the little seaside town of Las Lajas, located 75 kilometers from Boquete. After a week, Sinaproc reduced its efforts, and Gill flew into Panama to assist with the hunt. The family employed an American private investigator based in Panama, but as always, no significant leads were found.

The police officers from England were denied entry to Panama to carry on the investigation as there wasn’t a crime involved in that missing case. The family believes that their son became the victim of organ trafficking criminals operating in the Panama region’s dense jungle.
