Following an incident on Furtherwick Road in Canvey Island, Essex, Matt Portwood passed away.
Officers rushed to the site early on Saturday morning, however, Matt was not able to be saved despite the best efforts of the emergency services.
Following the horrific incident on February 4 that left the doorman with significant injuries, police have now opened a murder investigation.
No arrests have yet been made by Essex Police. The father of two’s close friend of almost 15 years, Wendy Mills, stated: “He was such a sweet guy and was so sincere and faithful.
“He’s a sly old chap. Anybody may get assistance from him. They serve as a doorman for young women. It’s even more tragic because all he wanted to do was safeguard the public.
An other Matt friend who wished to remain unnamed told EssexLive: “The awful news has really devastated my heart. “I truly feel like I lost him. The dinner and drinks that I and a couple of my friends were supposed to have together have been canceled.
“He was a kind man who would never harm anyone. Who would want to harm him, anyway? Simply put, it defies belief.” You can get in touch with independent charity @Crimestoppers by phoning 0800 555 111 or visiting their website if you’d like to make an anonymous report.
