Who Was John M. Veitch? Hall Of Fame Horse Trainer Dead At 77

John M. Veitch was a Hall of Fame Thoroughbred horse trainer in the United States. Veitch was the son of U.S. Racing Hall of Fame trainer Sylvester Veitch, and he came from a horse-training family that had been in the business for three generations. Veitch attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, where he played fullback on the football team.

John Veitch has had reason to go insane, having experienced a wide range of frustrations in his relatively brief training career. Nonetheless, good jobs and good horses have continued to come his way at every turn. Following the Life At Ten Breeders’ Cup debacle, John Veitch was suspended and fired by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Veitch is now looking for a new job and trying to clear his name.

Attorneys for John Veitch have filed a motion to compel the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission to consider the former Kentucky chief racing steward’s license application.
