A 14-year-old Missouri visitor died Thursday night after falling from a ride at Orlando’s ICON Park.
The officials reported the teen was rushed to Orlando Health Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, where he died from his injuries.
During an afternoon news conference, Orange County Sheriff John W. Mina identified the boy as Tyre Sampson.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, no charges have been filed, and authorities are trying to figure out how the youngster died.
Thursday’s tragedy was not the first time someone died after falling off a ride at ICON Park.
Who Was Jacob Kaminsky? Remembering a StarFlyer Ride Victim
Jacob Kaminsky was a 21-year old worker who fell more than 200 feet from the StarFlyer attraction while climbing the ride to conduct a safety check on September 14, 2020.
He was newly recruited at the StarFlyer on International Drive.
Jacob fell while performing normal repairs on the 250-foot spinning swing ride at ICON Park.
Sadly, the worker was brought to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
According to a family friend, Cheryl Wessely, Kaminsky, who grew up an hour outside of Chicago, had a fascination for roller coasters since he was a child.
He went on to say that as a kid, Jacob would spend hours in his basement creating toy roller coasters and watching movies about them. He also loves skateboarding and, with his father, developed a tiny skate park.
What Happened to Jacob Kaminsky?
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Jacob Kaminsky was not properly connected to the StarFlyer’s safety system, which would have prevented his fall.
And as said by OSHA’s investigation, the attraction’s owners should not be penalized because they did not violate any safety rules.
