Heather Walker, a Boston Celtics executive who devoted her energy to raising money and awareness for brain cancer while battling the disease has died at age 52.
Walker, the Celtics’ vice president of public relations, who was diagnosed with stage 4 glioblastoma in July 2021, died Wednesday, according to her family.
In a statement, The Boson Celtics eulogized Walker, calling her “a boundlessly charismatic, giving, and selfless soul.”
The team said in a statement:
Walker enrolled in a research trial that featured a vaccine specifically developed to fight her cancer after receiving her diagnosis.
Walker was filled with joy when she received notification that the vaccination was ready in a 2021 interview with Maria Stephanos.
Walker’s Move 4 Heather fundraising campaign, in collaboration with The Jimmy Fund, invited people to do something that moved them – anything from skydiving to climbing a new trail – and capture a photo or video of this bucket list item being marked off, using the hashtag #m4h.
The campaign had raised more than $640,000 at the time of her death.
