A man was shot and died aboard a subway train in Lower Manhattan on Sunday, leading police to seek a suspect.
A 48-year-old man Daniel Enriquez was shot in the chest by the suspect as he boarded a northbound Q train into the Canal Street subway station at 11:45 a.m., according to police.
Manhattan: Who Was Daniel Enriquez?
Daniel Enriquez, 48, was shot in the chest while onboard a northbound Q train at Canal Street. Enriquez was transported to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of his injuries, but he died there.
There have been no arrests, and police are searching for the gunman. The suspect opened fire as the train crossed the Manhattan Bridge and ran as the train arrived at Canal Street station.
According to witnesses, the suspect was going back and forth in the same train car when he pulled out a gun and fired it at the victim at close range without provocation,” said Kenneth Corey, Chief of Department.
The suspect is described as having a dark complexion, being heavyset, and wearing a beard, according to police.
He was last seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt of a dark color, grey trousers, and white sneakers.
Daniel Enriquez Was Shot To Death On Subway Shooting
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, at around 11:45 a.m., a 48-year-old man was shot on a train approaching Canal Street station.
The gunman shot Daniel Enriquez, 48, in the chest and killed him without provocation. Enriquez was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
While the NYPD conducts an investigation near Canal Street, all northbound N and Q trains are experiencing delays.
The shooter, who fled the train when it arrived at Canal St. station, is still on the run, and no arrests have been made.
Police said they’re looking at camera footage to help them find the suspect.
