Who Was Adeed Fayaz? Cop Shot During Botched Facebook Marketplace Robbery Dies

According to officials, the NYPD officer who was wounded while attempting to buy a car from a vendor on Facebook Marketplace has passed away as a result of his injuries.

Officer Adeed Fayaz, a patrolman in South Brooklyn’s 66th Precinct, was the victim, according to the NYPD. Fayaz, a 26-year-old police officer with five years of service, is survived by his wife and two small children.

Three days after the unsuccessful robbery attempt in Brooklyn, Fayaz was declared dead on Tuesday in the late afternoon.

At his side when they decided to remove his life support were Fayaz’s wife and their two small sons. Fayaz’s family and hundreds of NYPD officers escorted his body to the city medical examiner’s office while it was draped in an NYPD flag.

Randy ‘Popper’ Jones, 38, was arrested for the attack earlier on Tuesday, according to NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell. Charges are currently pending against the suspect.

Jones fled the city after the incident, according to Sewell, to a motel room in Rockland County. ‘He escaped, but he couldn’t get away from us. ‘He was handcuffed by an NYPD detective assigned to the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force in less than 46 hours,’ Sewell said.
