Silent Night was inspired by a night when Yvette was approximately eight years old and was babysat by an elderly friend of her mother’s. A night was spent assisting with the preparations for Christmas guests who never showed up.
She confesses that the actor is drawn to vulnerable characters. She’s fascinated by people’s quirks and the psychology behind them.
She enrolled at Auckland University as a mature student at the age of 38, studying sociology and film at the television, where she met Thomas Sainsbury, then 18 years old.
For as long as Parsons could remember, she wished to walk the boards but never went to drama school.
Yvette went to London in her early twenties to take comedy workshops and “perform a little of theatre,” as well as play keyboards for the band Dead Can Dance.
Upon her return to Auckland, she did play in a few punk bands.
