Who is Willie Snead, why was he suspended? His career stats and injuries

Willie Snead IV is one of the growing list of footballers who were overlooked in their draft year, finally proving themselves when they were picked up as free agents. Throughout his amateur and professional football career, Snead proved himself to be a utility player, becoming a quarterback and linebacker, but most importantly a wide receiver.

The footballer was snapped up by the Cleveland Browns after the 2014 NFL Draft. In 2018, he played for four NFL franchises, most recently the Baltimore Ravens.

Who is Willie Snead? Biography,

Willie Lee Snead IV was born on October 17, 1992, in Winterpark, Florida. His father, Willie Snead III, also inspired football. He was also a catcher in New York Jets games.

Due to the fact that his family had to move when his father got a head coaching job at a Michigan high school, Willie played football at three different schools. Her freshman year came with Glade Central High School in Belle Glade, Florida. His junior and senior years came to Holland Christian High School in Holland, Michigan, where his father was also his coach. Snead’s sophomore year was at Holland Christian High School in Holland, Michigan, where his father was also his coach. His junior and senior years were spent at Muskegon Heights High School. Willie was recognized by The Associated Press with Michigan Division 5-6 Player of the Year honors.

His time at Ball State University saw Willierecord 327 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns in 2011, his freshman year. With vastly increased playing time, the wide receiver recorded touchdowns, 89 receptions and 1,148 receiving yards. In his freshman year, he finished the season recording a school-best 100 yards rushing in nine of his games. He also finished the campaign with 15 touchdowns.

Career statistics

Snead opted out of his senior year to pursue a professional career by entering the 2014 NFL Draft. The yearly practice turned out to be a disaster for the wide receiver as he was not selected by any team. After the draft, he was picked up by the Cleveland Browns and put on impressive performances in their training camp and preseason games. However, he was released shortly after making the final cut.

Willie Snead then had an unsuccessful tryout with the New York Giants and a short stint with the Carolina Panthers practice squad. He ended 2014 with the New Orleans Saints without having registered an appearance in the regular season.

His opportunity finally came in the 2015 season and he grabbed it with both hands. Snead finished the campaign with a record 69 catches, 984 receiving years and a trio of touchdowns. That makes him an NFL record holder for highest receptions and touchdowns by an unprepared rookie.

Snead’s 2016 builds on the success of the previous campaign and sees him record a career-high 172 yards in a game against the Oakland Raiders that ends in a loss. He also threw what became the longest touchdown pass in the NFL by a wide receiver since Mohamed Sanu in 2012.

Why was he suspended?

2017 was not a very good season for Willie Snead. First, he ended up on the wrong side of the NFL after violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Willie drove straight into a parked car and was arrested on a DWI charge after failing a breathalyzer test. He was consequently punished with a period of three games on the sidelines.

Injury

He suffered a hamstring injury in the third week of the season, which kept him out of action for two more weeks. His performances after his return were far from the levels he had set for himself.

On April 20, 2018, the Baltimore Ravens came up with a two-year, approximately $10.4 million off-the-books contract for Snead, who had been tendered by the Saints. They officially entered into the contract three days later after the Saints officially refused to match the contract offered by the Ravens, thus making Snead a Ravens player.

Willie Snead, the children’s girlfriend

The versatile footballer is in a long-term relationship with his bae Chanelle Nicole Arnold. The two have been together since their time together at Ball State University. The Florida-born bombshell and her NFL partner are blessed with two children. Their first daughter, Nilah, was born in Indianapolis on August 8, 2014. The name of their second child is not known.
