Val Chmerkovskiy was born on March 24, 1986 in Odessa, a Ukrainian city formerly known as the Soviet Union to parents Aleksandr Chmerkovskiy and Larissa Chmerkovskiy. Val has an older brother whose name is Maksim Chmerkovskiy, he is also a professional dancer and appeared on the show Dancing With The Stars.
During his childhood, his family moved to Brooklyn, New York in the United States where his father first had to work as a pizza delivery boy.
