Along with her career in journalism and broadcasting, Tracey also wrote restaurant reviews as a critic for The Independent from 1997 until it closed in 2016.
MacLeod is friends with author Helen Fielding who had previously been a restaurant critic for the Independent on Sunday, where Tracey often used to accompany her on reviewing trips.
Tracey was given a chance to write the review one week when Helen was away. She impressed everyone on the editing team which led to her bagging the role of the restaurant critic on The Independent.
Her restaurant reviews were highly entertaining, sharp, and witty. It was her reputation as a restaurant critic that led to her becoming a judge on Masterchef.
