The victims were under the age of 16 and 12. Thomas was pressed with two charges for both the crimes.

Canterbury Teacher Arrested For Inappropriate Behavior On Minor

A former Canterbury teacher and coach was arrested for performing sex crimes against a literal child of the age of 16.

The mother of the victim realized that her son was being sexually abused. On March 25, 2022, the two matched on a dating app, Grindr which proceeded to more intimate conversation over Snapchat that later turned into sexual telephone calls and multiple physical sex encounters.

According to a February 16, 2022 report, a mother sent in a complaint to LSCO in speculation of her son being a victim of sex crimes performed by a teacher that took place in Bonita Springs.

The police started their investigation with the 30-year-old teacher right after the complaint was filed against him. The police has him under arrest for the crime of molestation because it has been said that the victim has oral sex with him.

With some investigation, it turned out that the victim was not a Canterbury student and that he was younger than 16 but older than 12, which makes him a clear minor.

Rick Kirschner, head of the school took the responsibility to write to the Canterbury community informing them of the arrest. He was the one to be the person to confirm that the student involved in the case is not a Canterbury student.

“This morning we were informed by law enforcement that a member of our Upper School faculty was under investigation for a serious matter, and he has since been arrested. Although we have been reassured by law enforcement that the matter did not involve any of our students, I want everyone to know that the safety of our students is and remains our paramount concern. This individual is no longer employed here. Given the nature of this matter, we defer to law enforcement for any further comment,” Kirschner said in the notice.

This is an active case, the further details will be posted soon.
